Compassionate Counselling for Adults & Children

Hello and welcome. I'm Sarah, a qualified, registered counsellor and psychotherapist dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support for both adults and children in my rooms in South West London, including Twickenham, Teddington, Richmond and Kingston-upon-Thames, all with easy access to public transport. I work online and face to face, offering flexible options to suit your needs.

Perhaps you have lost someone and can't stop crying, maybe you are struggling to get out of bed each day and are finding little enjoyment in things that used to make you happy. Perhaps you are finding it hard to see the point in things anymore. Or it could be that your child is showing signs of anxiety or refusing to go to school and you're not sure what to do.

My role is to provide you with emotional support, and a space for you to explore and try and make sense of your thoughts and feelings. I can help you gain insight into any challenges you are facing and together we can work collaboratively to develop coping strategies and solutions. I have experience of working with depression, trauma, bereavement, loss, stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties and, for children, issues at school, including school refusal and bullying.

I trained as an Adult Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist at the University of Roehampton and have also completed a specialised qualification in counselling children and young people. Volunteering at Off the Record in Twickenham and at the Kingston Women’s Centre has given me experience dealing with a wide variety of clients of all ages and a range of issues.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics. I am also a registered accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. My qualifications are:

  • Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Level 5 CPCAB in Counselling Children and Young People
  • Level 2 CPCAB in Counselling Skills
  • TA101 Introduction to Transactional Analysis
  • CPD in Trauma Informed Practice, PESI
  • CPD in Experiential Training working with Young People
  • CPD in Compassion Focused Therapy
  • Open University course in Trauma Informed Counselling

How can I help you?

Holistic Approach: My approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and collaboration. I draw upon evidence-based practices, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness techniques, tailoring my methods to suit the specific goals and preferences of my clients. For children, I incorporate creative techniques and expression to help communication.

Experience with All Age Groups: Whether you're an adult needing help for a particular issue, or a parent looking for support for your child, I have experience working with diverse age groups. I can help you navigate any challenges you are facing. I also have extensive experience working with ADHD/ADD and autism (ASD).

Compassionate and Confidential Care: I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. By working together, we can explore underlying issues, set achievable goals, and develop practical strategies for coping with depression, truama, anxiety, stress or relationship issues.

Flexible Options: I offer both face-to-face sessions for those who prefer in-person interactions and online counselling for flexibility and convenience.

What to expect when you see a counsellor...

Usually we begin by discussing what issues have brought you to seek counselling. We will look at any patterns in thinking and behaviour that may be making your life more difficult.

Together we will explore what your expectations are, and we will discuss how long we might work together. For children, it takes time to build up trust. I will take time to talk and use creative methods to help this process – this might mean playing games of Connect 4 for a while!
