Hello and welcome. I'm Sarah, a qualified, registered counsellor and psychotherapist dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support for adults and young people in South West London, including Twickenham, Teddington, Richmond and Kingston-upon-Thames, all with easy access to public transport. I work face-to-face and online, offering flexible options to suit your needs.
There are many reasons people seek therapy. You might have experienced something traumatic and you can't move past it, you may have lost someone and can't stop crying, or you perhaps you are struggling to get out of bed each day, finding little enjoyment in things that used to make you happy. You might be struggline to see the point in things anymore, or you feel an emptiness inside. Maybe you are not sure who you are as a person, or that people don't see the real you. Perhaps you are finding it increasingly hard to live the life you want, or your relationships are unfulfilling. It can feel overwhelming trying to find the right therapist, but it can also be life-changing.
My role is to provide you with emotional support and a space for you to explore and try to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. I can help you gain insight into any challenges you are facing, and together we can work collaboratively to develop coping strategies and solutions. I have experience of working with depression, trauma, abuse, bereavement, loss, stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationship difficulties and, for children, issues at school, including friendship difficulties, school refusal and bullying.
I trained as an Adult Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist at the University of Roehampton and have a specialised qualification in counselling for children and young people. I have experience working at Off the Record in Twickenham and volunteering at Kingston Women’s Centre, the Samaritans, RUILS, and Support Through Court. I have worked as a school counsellor, which has given me experience working with clients of all ages and addressing a range of issues. I am also a lecturer in counselling, working in Adult Further Education, and a sessional therapist at The Priory in Roehampton.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by its code of ethics.
My qualifications include:
Holistic Approach: Therapy provides a space where we can work things out together. If you don't know how to stop people pleasing or how to be vulnerable with others, I accept you as you are. I offer a calm, supportive space where we can gently explore the causes of your anxiety and work together to find ways of easing its grip, helping you feel more grounded, confident, and in control. My approach is grounded in empathy, active listening, and collaboration. I draw upon evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and mindfulness techniques, tailoring my methods to suit your specific goals and preferences. This means that we look at what is happening in the here and now for you and what might have led to your current distress. I can help guide you to greater self-awareness and understanding.
Experience with All Age Groups: Whether you're an adult needing help for a particular issue, or a parent looking for support for your child, I have experience working with diverse age groups. I can help you navigate any challenges you are facing. I also have experience working with ADHD/ADD and autism (ASD).
Compassionate and Confidential Care: I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. By working together, we can explore underlying issues, set achievable goals, and develop practical strategies for coping with depression, loss, trauma, anxiety, stress or relationship issues.
Flexible Options: I offer both face-to-face sessions for those who prefer in-person interaction and online counselling for convenience and flexibility.
Whatever you are feeling, therapy with me can help you feel more comfortable with yourself. We usually begin by discussing the issues that have led you to seek counselling and how you would like things to change. We will look at any patterns in thinking and behaviour that may be making your life more difficult, or any traumatic experiences that you are struggling to come to terms with. Together, we will explore your expectations and goals and discuss how long we might work together.
All enquiries are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy in my rooms in South West London, including Twickenham, Teddington, Richmond and Kingston-upon-Thames, all with easy access to public transport.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, costing from £70 depending on time and location. I also offer a limited number of low cost sessions, please contact me to enquire if there are any available.
I offer an initial phone or video call to explore working together. Fees are required to be paid before each session with 48 hours notice in case of cancellation.
I am a Registered Provider with Aviva, WPA, Cigna and Vitality Health Insurance.
